Vixen Digital Camera Adapter DG-LV joins with the Vixen DG Digital Rings to mate Vixen LV eyepieces to your digital camera for "Digiscoping" (also known as "afocal imaging") through any telescope that takes 1¼" eyepieces. This is a great method for imaging bright astronomical objects (Moon and bright planets) as well as terrestrial objects (birding and plane-spotting). This method is also handy for group-viewing through your camera's built-in screen.
The Digital Camera Adapter DG-LV surrounds the top of the LV eyepiece which is placed in the telescope as for visual use. You can select and center the object of interest in the eyepiece as usual. When your are ready to image, just attach your digital camera to the Digital Camera Adapter DG-LV with the DG Digital Ring joined onto your camera's filter thread. Use the camera viewscreen to adjust the zoom, check focus (autofocus should work on bright, centered objects) and exposure (most cameras have +/- exposure controls). Press the shutter-release for terrestrial objects or use the time-delay shutter for astronomical objects to minimize vibration.
For the larger-size filter threads it is possible to employ a filter (polarizer, color in b&w mode, etc.) between the camera and DG Digital Rings to enhance the image.
A method often used to photograph such diverse objects as the moon, planets and birds is to place a camera behind the telescope’s eyepiece ("digiscoping"). Vixen Digital Camera Adapters let you do this with many models of digital cameras from Nikon, Olympus, Sony, and other manufacturers. The Digital Camera Adapters are for use with Vixen LV eyepieces (1¼" size) only.
